I am a painter & illustrator currently based in the port city of Wilmington, North Carolina.
From time to time I sketch out ideas prior to laying brush on canvas but in most instances I start by not really having a solid idea.
I wait and see where color and pattern may take me. I find this approach exciting and a true mind adventure as the story unfolds.
Wildlife and nature play a big part in my world which is evident in the work shown on this site. There are a number of reoccurring 
critters, characters and settings which pop up from time to time. They are never planned but happen with no notice.
I can only accept this, like I would from a visit from an old friend. 

Illustration and other commissioned work is handled a bit differently and includes a number of preliminary sketches
and color studies prior to moving forward to the final art. Although I always strive to obtain a sense of spontaneity .
I am a true believer in happy accidents and those do not happen unless you really explore a piece.
But we all know that many times, the first line is the truest. Its an adventure !

When not in the studio I can be found playing guitar, walking the dog and getting together with friends an family.
